Finally…spring is here! We’ve navigated a very busy tax-year end, lots of cold, wet weather and are now heading into the holiday season and looking forward to summer. We hope you are keeping well and would like to extend a warm welcome to our new clients who have joined us in recent months. Here’s a round-up of what’s been going on at RB since the start of 2024.
People
Rebecca Dean gave birth to a baby girl, Georgia, in January and is currently enjoying her maternity leave.
We said a fond farewell to Lizi Grange in January, as she left RB to pursue a different career path and study for a degree in psychology. We have been recruiting for her replacement in Client Services and hope to share some positive news soon.
Achievements
Barney Wood passed his Level 6 ‘Managing Investments’ LIBF exam in December, a huge achievement, and a first step en-route to becoming Chartered.
Antony Barton, Gillian Shirt and Dan Willers all featured in the Times ‘VouchedFor Top Rated Financial Adviser Guide’ in March. This means a lot to us as the advisers are selected based on client feedback ratings. Thank you to those of you who have written a testimonial.
Joanne Vaughan was promoted to Managing Director in January. Jo has been with RB for nearly 8 years and has taken on various responsibilities along the way, playing a valuable role in shaping RB as it is today. Stephen Baxter remains actively involved in RB in his new role as Executive Director and continues to work closely with Jo and the Senior Leadership Team.
We have won 2 awards at the Yorkshire Finance Awards 2024 on the 2nd of May – ‘Financial Adviser Team of the Year’ and ‘Director of the Year’ for Joanne Vaughan. It was a record year for us at the Yorkshire Finance Awards being selected as 6 finalists in 4 categories (Financial Adviser Team of the year, Director of the year – Joanne Vaughan & Antony Barton, Financial Adviser of the Year – Antony Barton & Gillian Shirt, Trainee of the Year – Luci Tinsley) We celebrated until the early hours at the black-tie event at the New Dock in Leeds.
Activity
Antony Barton spent a day in January for the 2nd year running with Wyke Sixth Form College teaching students about the basics of personal finance. Educating young people about finance is a cause close to our hearts and his input was well received with lots of questions.
The “Fearless Five” from the RB team (Antony Barton, Barney Wood, Stephen Baxter, Dan Willers and Ben Collier) will be running the Leeds 10k on 23rd June. All volunteered with great enthusiasm! Most importantly they are looking to raise money for three causes chosen by the RB team: Parkinsons UK, Marie Curie and MS Trust. The link to our Just Giving page is below – if you’re able to donate something, we’d really appreciate it. If you’re in near Leeds on 23rd, please come and give us a clap – we’ll need the support!

Huddersfield Choral Society is the North’s premier independent choir; a registered charity financed solely by private sponsorship.
They are seeking sponsors for a major project in 2025 – namely a broadcast, tour dates and a major recording of Elgar’s ‘Dream of Gerontius,’ which will further enhance the reach and reputation of the choir and Huddersfield.
If you are interested in becoming a sponsor, please contact the HCS General Secretary – Sir John Harman at john.harman@huddersfieldchoral.com
We haven’t forgotten about rescheduling our social event for charity! Look out for an invite to a MacMillan Coffee Morning soon.
