We’re feeling festive! The tree is up, we’ve enjoyed our Christmas do and the RB team are as busy as Santa’s elves, keeping the energy topped up with mince pies and chocolate as we finish everything off before taking a well-earned break over Christmas. Our last working day is Friday 22nd December, and the office reopens on Tuesday 2nd January 2024.
Here’s a round-up of what’s been going on at Robertson Baxter over the last couple of months.
People
Our team continues to grow! At the beginning of December Kate Brown joined us as a Paraplanner and Jo Davey joined us as a Client Services Administrator. Kate will be covering for Rebecca Dean, who will be finishing in January for maternity leave and Jo is a long-awaited replacement for Natalie, who left RB in June. They are both settling in well and have got off to a great start.
Activity / Achievements
Helen Morgan sadly wasn’t a winner at Professional Adviser Women in Finance Awards, but we are extremely proud of her nonetheless for being shortlisted as a finalist out of 100’s of entries from firms across the UK of all different sizes, some of those national. Well done Helen!
We are proud to share that Antony Barton, Dan Willers and Gillian Shirt have all received 10 positive reviews over the last 12 months on VouchedFor, a website directory for financial advisers. Thank you for providing feedback, it hugely motivates the team and helps build RB’s profile as an adviser firm of choice for potential new clients.
We have been involved in various charitable activities, namely:
- Antony Barton and Ben Collier completed the Leeds Abbey Dash 10k in October in aid of Age UK. A lot of the RB team opted out with various reasons/excuses(!), but dug deep to support them and donate to this worthy cause. Well done to both!
- Attended KACCL (Kirklees Annual Charity Christmas Lunch) – in aid of 2 young people’s charities which raised £28k, WACCL (Wakefield Annual Charity Christmas Lunch) – in aid of 7 local charities which raised £25k on the day and One Community Foundation Kirklees AGM and grant allocation panel meetings. One Community Foundation Kirklees is a local charity which supports a number of small local charities in Huddersfield and we are proud to work in collaboration with them.
- Many of you expressed an interest in joining us for a cocktail/mocktail making event to raise funds for a local charity and we plan to reschedule this in the new year.
In November we entered into a collaboration with Oyster, a sustainability-focused managed print services provider. Despite embracing the latest technology, we still need to print on a regular basis as many providers still require paper applications and wet signatures. We now have printers which use lower amounts of energy, all our printed paper usage is reforested and ultimately our print costs will be lower. This collaboration takes us one welcome step forward in our efforts to minimise the impact of our business on the environment and support a quality firm.
Financial
If you have missed them, take a few minutes with a mince pie and drink of choice to read our recent blogs ‘Autumn Statement Summary November 2023’ and ‘Why bother investing?’
We would like to thank all our clients, partners and connections for your continued support and loyalty in 2023.
Wishing you all the very best for Christmas and the New Year from
The Robertson Baxter Team x
