We hope you are keeping well and would like to say a very big welcome to our new clients who have joined RB in recent months. Time certainly flies, but when we look at back at what we have achieved this year so far, itâs not surprising to find ourselves already heading into August and enjoying the summer! Hereâs a roundup:
15th Anniversary
Robertson Baxter is 15 years old! Some of you have been on the journey with us since the beginning and you will know how far we have come in that time. We were delighted to mark the occasion with a lovely celebratory meal and drinks at The Three Acres on 1st April. It was a time of reflection as to how far we have come and express our gratitude to those who have played a part in our success; in particular, our Financial Controller Liz Townend, who has been with us since the very start and without whom we probably wouldnât be here! It was also a timely opportunity to treat our team who have worked so hard in the period towards year end and let our hair down.
Our Senior Financial Planner Antony Barton was a worthy finalist in the âIndependent Financial Adviser of the Yearâ category at the Yorkshire Financial Awards in February. We have been finalists for 4 years running since the awards were first launched, something we are very proud of.
We were proud to show off our new website which was shortlisted for âBest Adviser Websiteâ at the Professional Adviser Awards in April.
Helen Morgan (Client Services Manager) and Joanne Vaughan (Practice Manager) were finalists in the âRole Model of the Year (small/medium firms) and âTeam Leader of the Yearâ categories respectively in the Professional Adviser Women in Financial Advice Awards. We have been finalists in these national awards for 3 years running now, which is no mean achievement!
People
Our team continues to evolve both personally and professionally:
Rebecca Dean returned from maternity leave in January to the paraplanning team. With her beautiful baby son Jack happily settled at nursery, Rebecca is the most recent member of the team to move house. (Did you know that 5 of us have moved house since lockdown?!)
We said goodbye to paraplanner Chloe Timperley in April, who left us to pursue a different path as a Senior Policy Advisor at the Association of Mortgage Intermediaries. Chloeâs talents will be very much missed but we wished her a fond farewell and no doubt she will continue to make an appearance at our social gatherings!
Emma Baxter, Stephenâs wife, is now working in the business part-time to support our busy adviser team with making appointments with clients for their annual reviews. Many of you will already know Emma and you can expect to be hearing from her soon to get you booked in if you havenât already!
Charlotte Slack, our Business Administrator, left us at the beginning of July to start her maternity leave with her new baby son Theo. We wish Charlotte well as she embarks on this new exciting phase of her life.
We are actively looking to recruit new members to the team and look forward to bringing new talent on board.
Financial
July has looked more promising, but it continues to be a testing time for markets against the backdrop of unsettled world events. Our recent email communication piece explains how it is important to understand the part this plays in the investment cycle and we hope you found it reassuring. If you missed it please do have a read and of course please never hesitate to get in touch if you would like to discuss anything, itâs what we are here for!
Technology
Digital Annual Reviews â coming soon, for those of you who like to make use of technology as part of our offering there will be enhanced functionality within Wealth Platform to complete risk questionnaires, use secure messaging etc. in preparation for your ongoing reviews.
RB Investment Lunches
Our team of Financial Planners are hosting two investment lunches in September, one in Huddersfield and one in Leeds, in partnership with our friends at Brooks Macdonald. It will be a chance for us to catch up our fellow accountancy and legal professionals and pass on practical reasons on why to use a Financial Planner. This will be a regular event for our professional connections so if youâd like an invite in future, please let us know.
We hope you are well and enjoying the long, hot summer days.
With best wishes from
The Robertson Baxter Team
